From Our Philanthropy Director

Hey everyone!
My name is Maddie Egan, and I am so excited to serve as Alpha Nu’s Philanthropy Director this year! Our charity, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, means the world to myself and all of the women in this chapter. I have met some of the most truly inspiring and loving individuals through CMNH.
Part of what makes CMNH so special to us is that our local CMN Hospital, UF Health Shands Children’s, is just a fifteen minute walk from our house. We are so lucky to be hands on with our philanthropy and get to participate in hospital tours, volunteering opportunities, and service projects with our Miracle Children.
Another reason why we hold CMNH so close to our hearts is because of our sister, Mariel White, who lost her battle with pediatric illness last fall. In April of 2022, we were honored to host our first annual Milkshakes for Mariel event to honor her and create a scholarship in her name. We are thankful to announce that we raised over $9,000 this year alone. Just as Mariel always said, "She persisted."
In addition to Milkshakes for Mariel, we hold annual fundraising events in the fall and spring to raise money for CMNH. These events are some of my favorite days of the year! In 2022 we held our first ever Miracle Games, an outdoor field day competition and had a blast playing cornhole and soaking up some sunshine.
I am so proud of all that we have accomplished this year and can not wait to see what the fall will hold. Let’s keep making miracles!
Lots of Love,
Maddie Egan, Phi Class ‘19
Philanthropy Director
Our Partner Charity
Phi Mu is the only sorority to be a corporate sponsor of Children's Miracle Network Hospitals (CMNH). Supporting 170 Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals nationwide, Phi Mu has raised over $8.5 million since 1986, improving the quality of life for children everywhere.
Throughout the year we participate in philanthropic events to support CMNH, including our own efforts and those of organizations like Dance Marathon.
This past year, we raised over $130,000 for CMNH through our philanthropic efforts and involvement in Dance Marathon at the University of Florida. We look forward to continue raising funds and awareness for Childhood Illness.

Miracle Games
Miracle Games is our annual philanthropy event benefitting CMNH. The event consists of teams competing in field day style games.
This year teams competed in corn hole, capture the flag, and a water balloon toss. We also had BZ Gelati come cater the event and the winning teams received Busch Gardens tickets!
We love being able to raise funds and awareness for a cause we hold near and dear in our hearts.
Milkshakes for Mariel
"She Persisted."

Milkshakes for Mariel kicked off in 2022 in honor of our sister, Mariel White, who passed away in December 2021.
Mariel's persistence and passion continues to inspire our sisterhood and everyone who was touched by her story and her life.
Milkshakes for Mariel is now an annual event we will host to raise money for the Mariel White Sisterhood Scholarship, which will be awarded annually to a sister in our chapter.
The event takes place at the Phi Mu house, and milkshakes and desserts are served with the purchase of a ticket or donation. All proceeds directly fund the scholarship.
From the first event alone, we raised over $9,400 through both ticket sales and donations.
